Helena Christensen on the cover of Elle UK

Helena Christensen might be 40, but that doesn’t mean she’s covering up her amazing body anytime soon.

For the January issue of Elle UK, the Danish cover girl goes au naturel and talks exclusively with the fashion tome about why disrobing is not a big deal.

“I have no problems with showing my body,” the 5′10″ mother of 10-year-old son Mingus tells the magazine. “I love breasts. I love the female shape. But I’m Danish. Everyone’s naked on the beaches. We don’t really give a s***.” (Oh, so elegantly worded.)

No stranger to sultry photo shoots, the model — who turns 41 this Christmas — was photographed naked alongside Eva Herzigova, 36 and Claudia Schiffer, 39, for the current issue of i-D, stripped down for the cover of French magazine Citizen K in August, was the face of lingerie brand Agent Provocateur in late 2008 and posed for French Playboy in 2007.

“I just wanted the nudity to be in that normal, subtle way because my grandmother is still alive and I want to keep her for another 15 years — I don’t want her to get a shock!” she tells Elle UK about her risqué pictures.

We’re sure grandma can handle the Elle image showing Christensen baring lots of leg and cleavage in clingy nude, pinup-worthy garments that leave little to the imagination.

Another shot shows the model completely bare on top, accessorized with only strategically placed hands — cue “Wicked Game” video — but is tastefully done and stunning.

In addition to explaining her liberal take on nudity, the oft bohemian-styled Christensen says she feels just as free about what she puts on her body.

“If I feel like dressing ridiculous today, I will and I don’t care,” she tells the magazine. “I think you’ve gotta have a f*** everybody attitude about it. I’m gonna do what I feel like doing.”

And although she hates the term “supermodel” (”It’s silly and cartoonish,” she says), Christensen admits that there was definitely something about the models of the ’90s that made them special.

“They all had interesting personalities and were fun,” she adds. “They were versatile in their way of posing and expressing themselves. They had a certain depth to them that made you interested in more than just the facade.”

To read the full interview, pick up the January issue of Elle UK, on newsstands this Wednesday (Nov. 2).

And leave a comment telling us what you think of Christensen’s revealing shoot.

Japanese women take the most pride in their nails, hands down.

Their attention to the perfect tips is so detailed, it’s not uncommon for women to match their manicures to their cell phone embellishments (really - we witnessed this ourselves!)

In fact, the nail industry has grown to a nearly 200 million Japanese yen market in 2008. And in Japan, acrylics are de rigeur — and the crazier, the better.

So it follows that Japan hosts the only (to our knowledge) nail pageant.

Today’s Nail Queen Awards Ceremony took place during the Tokyo Nail Expo 2009 at Tokyo Big Sight, Tokyo’s international exhibition center. The annual event attracts 50,000 visitors, and The Huffington Post has some more great images, here.

Would you ever wear crazy nails like these? Leave a comment and let us know!

Stars like Salma Hayek, Orlando Bloom, Jennifer Aniston, and Adrien Brody celebrated Thanksgiving in Morocco at the reopening of La Mamounia Hotel.

But Gwyneth Paltrow was the red carpet stunner wearing punchy, coral lipstick.

Paired with a fresh face, lush lashes and golden strands, Paltrow’s vibrant pucker rounds out her youthful look.

The blonde actress joins a cohort of celebs who’ve recently been spotted rocking the ripe shade. Click on the gallery below to see more beauties in this lip color of the moment!

When it comes to fashion, Chloe Sevigny doesn’t always score high marks. But at a party in New York City in July 2009, she hit a beauty home run. Her fiery lips looked spectacular with a few simple swipes of mascara and blush.

Tip: A fiery coral lip can be difficult to pull off. If you choose to go bold, look for a shade with a red base like Sevigny’s. They tend to flatter most complexions.

Jennifer Lopez shined at party in Miami with shimmering eyes and a pale coral lip.

Soft coral lips are quickly becoming a popular alternative to flesh-toned nudes. Christina Ricci opted for the warm wearable shade at a Los Angeles movie premiere.

Tip: Soft, warm corals instantly help create the illusion of a fuller lip (thanks to their flesh-toned color). To plump it up even more, apply a clear gloss in the center of the lips. The light reflection from the gloss will make them appear even more full.

A bold move for an actress who usually plays it safe with her makeup; Alexis Bledel’s strong coral lip boosted her bright eyes and luminous complexion.

At the 2009 Golden Globe Awards, January Jones’ matte coral lip looked a little Ronald McDonald. A softer shade, with a swipe of clear gloss, would have made it much more glamorous.

This is hardly surprising news, but Cindy Crawford made headlines today for admitting she has used Botox.

“Because people have such expectations of what they are going to find when they see me, that brings added pressure to fight the ageing process,” Crawford stated in an interview which will be published in GQ later this week.

The 43-year-old mother of three said she visited a London cosmetic surgeon for several years to have the wrinkle-reducing injections. She said she thought about more drastic surgery, but decided against it because it can make women look “unreal.”

According to The Daily Mail, Crawford admitted in the interview: “There’s a doctor here in London who I’ve gone to for Botox. I did a whole skincare line with him. But I haven’t done Botox for ten years. And I didn’t do collagen, I don’t think.”

If their bunny lines are any indication, we think that at this point it’s safe to assume that most major celebrities get Botox shots.

But we say hats off to Crawford for actually admitting it.

Hermes alligator bag

Is Hermès to blame for tanking alligator farming business? Photo: Sam Yeh, AFP/Getty Images

A cat gator fight is brewing!

The alligator farming industry is suffering and thinks the real culprit is none other than the house of exotic skin handbags itself, Hermès, reports The New York Times.

Farmers used to sell skins to independent, family-owned tanneries who would pay a decent price for the raw skins. The tanneries would then in turn sell the skins to luxury houses like Cartier, Hermès and Gucci, according to the paper.

But in the ’90s, Hermès started buying up tanneries and roughly two years ago became the largest exotic skin provider. (Now, the French brand is even breeding its own crocodiles.)

And apparently, the luxury house is demanding much lower prices from farmers — sometimes below cost — while other fashion houses cry foul over the rising prices of tanned skins.

“Every time I go to Neiman Marcus and say every year the price is going up, they fight me tooth and nail,” George D. Malkemus III, president of Manolo Blahnik, told The Times. “They say, ‘I’m not going to spend $4,000 for an alligator shoe.’” (We hear that!)

Gator farmer Zachary Casey has an explanation: Hermès is hoarding skins and forcing other fashion houses to pay inflated prices while leaving the farmers with few other options, says the source.

A spokeswoman for Hermès, Caroline Schwartz-Mailhe, emailed the paper in the company's defense, saying that Hermès is still aggressively buying from farmers "to support them in these difficult times and to respond to Hermès' increasing development in alligator skins."

Schwartz-Mailhe was also quick to point out that the luxury house only bought a third of the skins produced in Florida, Georgia and Louisiana.

But with so much hard work for little in return (never mind those snapping jaws!), some U.S. gator farmers have had it and are considering other opportunities like roadside zoos.

We’re guessing these aren’t of the petting variety.

Exotic skins may be outlandishly expensive but no price is too high for die-hard Brikin fans Naomi Campbell and Victoria Beckham.
