When you think of a hotel suite, you might think of style, but you probably don't think of fashion.
The Presidential Suite at the Ritz-Carlton Palm Beach in Florida is an exception, as it boasts a wall of “shoe art” paying tribute to former First Ladies and other worldly dignitaries.
The almost 2700-square-foot suite — which can be yours for $4,000 to $6,000 a night — includes a nightly bath butler, and, as we found upon visiting, an under-lit onyx bar and stunning views of the Atlantic, which pale in comparison to the gorgeous display of shoes created by Miami designer Robert Tabor.
Michelle Obama’s shoe will make its debut on January 17 (the First Lady’s birthday); just a few days prior, the Obamas will celebrate their first year in the White House. As you would imagine, Mrs. O’s shoe steps up the style quotient.
Like Mrs. O., the lemongrass-colored lace shoe is high-fashion, channeling her Mrs. Obama’s dress at the Presidential Inauguration.
Embellished with a velvet and jeweled bow and an “Obama ‘08″ campaign button at the toe, it also showcases a column inspired by the White House architecture, as well as a graduation cap and insignia from both Princeton and Harvard Law.
Also prominent is a family portrait, accented by a red, white and blue ribbon and Mrs. Obama’s First Lady campaign button.

This snake — seen at the Deadly Designer fashion show — needs a new agent. Photo: WENN
Oh, for crying out loud.
Listen up, designers. We know Halloween is around the corner, but can you please cut it with the freak show antics on the runway?
A blood-soaked model filming a horror movie?
“Flintstones” frocks that belong in a costume shop?
Now this chick?
Puh-leeze.
This latest fashion victim — clad in little more than tights that look like they were gnawed on by a family of rats and what appears to be black duct tape covering her (ahem) lucky charms — hit the catwalk at the appropriately titled “Deadly Designer” fashion show at the Magners Light Fall for Fashion event in Belfast, Ireland.
They call it fashion, we call it a poor man’s version of Britney Spears’ python-enhanced “I’m a Slave 4 You” performance at the 2001 VMAs
We’d mock the snake draped across her shoulders, but let’s face it — it’s the only part of the outfit we’d consider wearing. You know, after it had been turned into a handbag or heels (sorry, little guy).
Check out more jaw-dropping fashion here.

Madeleine Albright’s “Read My Pins” tells how the leader used jewelry as a diplomatic tool. Photo: Diana Walker | Liberty Pin, Gijs Bakker
She was the country's first female secretary of state. She served as America's ambassador to the United Nations. Add best-selling author, professor and adviser. And, man, does Madeleine Albright know how to accessorize!
“Before long, and without intending it, I found that jewelry had become part of my personal diplomatic arsenal,” Albright writes in her new book “Read My Pins: Stories from a Diplomat’s Jewel Box” (Harper, $40).
“Former President George H.W. Bush had been known for saying ‘Read my lips.’ I began urging colleagues and reporters to ‘Read my pins.’”

Sometimes I’ll walk a trade show (a fashion convention where numerous designers set up booths to show their upcoming collections to retail buyers and journalists) for an hour, passing hundreds of lines without ever stopping to take a second look.
Other times, there will be so much bag-a-licious goodness to see that I have to spend more than one day taking it all in.
The latter was the case at last week’s Coterie and Sole Commerce shows in New York City. I found myself stopping at several booths to make introductions and peruse purses under closer inspection. Here are my top two finds:
Michelle Monroe, a designer whom I actually met a year ago at the WSA trade show in Las Vegas. I liked her festive line then, but this time around it seemed even more energetic and necessary.
In a time when many designers are opting for safe shapes — a simple leather hobo, a refined crocodile tote - with minimal eccentricities and consequently, minimal excitement, Michelle Monroe has not wavered from her bold use of jewelry hardware, feathers and flair.

Manolo says, if you are looking for some quality blogging entertainment–sassy, informative, amusing–the Manolo commends to you his Manolo for the Big Girl Blog where Miss Plumcake, Francesca, and Twistie provide for you the real goods. Trust the Manolo, you will not be disappointed.

Architecture and design merging with fashion is nothing alarmingly novel, but the latest exhibit at MUDE, Lisbon’s new Museum of Design and Fashion, pairs frocks with home design pieces, and with enchanting results! To view the exhibit “From Corbusier to Alaia,” you’ll have to wander through the unrefined (almost hazardous!) studio space that was once a bank headquarters in the 1950s. We are intrigued by the Giorgio Sant’ Angelo caftan displayed alongside a 1970 Olivetti Valentine typewriter…

Case closed! Sears settled a lawsuit with the EEOC for a record-breaking $6.2 million. Photo: Mario Tama, Getty Images
Talk about getting on the wrong side of Uncle Sam!
Sears, Roebuck and Co. settled a class-action lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) for a whopping $6.2 million yesterday.
The government agency brought the case against the department store claiming it failed to provide disabled workers returning from workers’ compensation leave the proper accommodations as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
Now the EEOC is flush with the cash — the settlement amount was the largest of any single lawsuit under the ADA.
